Managing Communication

Communication should be a critical consideration when defining the vision for a digital workforce. Developing a communication strategy at an early stage for delivering information to your target audience is highly recommended. It is essential to ensure that the vision is articulated consistently and widely across the organization.

To achieve this, the following steps may be considered:

Define your objectives

Define your overall communication objectives. What are the results that you want to achieve? You may look to create communication objectives which are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-focused).

Define your key audiences

It is important to identify the audience and why they need to be aware of the messages that you are delivering.

Identify Media Channels

Plan to deliver your messages to your key recipients through multiple media channels. Decide which media channels would be the most effective to get your message delivered to your target audiences.

Create a Communication Plan

Create a communication plan to define and time your steps for the best results. Based on your research and your resources, develop a solid timing strategy to execute the steps of your communication plan.

Evaluate the results of Communication

It is important to frequently measure the results of communications and understand whether the communications objectives are achieved.  In case the objectives are not achieved, it is highly recommended to revisit any of the previous steps and make improvements.
